125 Years Director Spotlight
Tim Duncan
With an impressive 30-year career at Lambert & Foster, Tim Duncan isn’t just part of the team, he’s part of the landscape. Now Managing Director, Tim has risen through the ranks with grit, good humour, and a deep love of the countryside he calls home.
Ask anyone who knows him, and they’ll tell you Tim is the ultimate rural gent. He’s a qualified pilot (yes, he flies little planes for fun), he owns and drives tractors (plural), and his trusty Labrador, who may or may not be the real boss, joins him in the office most days. If that’s not peak countryside credentials, we don’t know what is.
Tim describes Lambert & Foster as having a “family feel and friendly atmosphere,” and it’s that personal touch that sees clients returning generation after generation. Families like the Harris and Overy clans have come to rely on Tim and the team for their trusted advice and local knowledge.
Over the years, Tim’s been involved in all sorts, from rural planning projects to a rather charming contribution to East Sussex folklore: helping provide a car park for the famous Winnie-the-Pooh Bridge near Ashdown Forest. Whether Tim is an Eeyore or a Tigger, he’s certainly got local legend status!
One of Tim’s particular areas of focus is strategic land, undeveloped or underutilised land with potential for future major development. This can include everything from housing and urban extensions to commercial projects, and even the creation of entirely new towns or villages. It’s high-impact work that requires insight, foresight, and a strong understanding of how communities grow.
What keeps him inspired? The variety. “Every day is different,” he says. “You never quite know what kind of enquiry will land on your desk.” And that variety is exactly what fuels Lambert & Foster’s reputation for being as adaptable as it is experienced.
Looking ahead, Tim’s vision is clear: honour the traditions, but keep pace with the future. Under his leadership, Lambert & Foster continues to embrace modern technology while staying true to its roots, steady growth, professional advice, and a proper rural spirit at heart.
