Capital Grants 2026: Application window set to open on Thursday 30 July
Farmers and land managers have a fresh opportunity, as the Rural Payments Agency confirms that Capital Grants 2026 is expected to open for applications on Thursday 30 July, with a £225 million fund available for environmental improvements.
Successful applicants will enter three-year agreements, covering 80 capital items across six groups:
- Boundaries, trees and orchards
- Water quality
- Air quality
- Natural flood management
- Assessments
- Improvements
Caps will limit funding: up to £35,000 for boundaries, trees and orchards, and up to £25,000 each for water quality, air quality, and natural flood management. Assessment and improvement items carry no funding limit.
Grants can be taken as standalone agreements or alongside certain existing environmental land management agreements, provided there’s no duplicate funding and all eligibility criteria are met.
It should be noted that a number of capital items require Catchment Sensitive Farming Officer approval, which will not be possible to obtain prior to this year’s window opening. However, if such items are of interest for future application windows, do contact us to discuss further.
