Dispersal Sale : Beech Farm, Marden
1 May 2024 | Auctioneers – Jon Booth and Alan Mummery
We were delighted to be asked by John, Sheila and Andrew Adams to hold their retirement sale in Marden, Kent. Farm Dispersal sales are few and far between and the sale was extremely well supported by the local farming community. Despite the acknowledged difficulties in the fruit sector, the sale went really well with almost 100% clearance. Neighbours and local farmers took the opportunity of including some extra lots which extended the catalogue and worked well for all concerned.

The star of the show was the 2004 Fendt 206 VA Tractor, selling locally at £9,000, with a number of Massey Ferguson 135’s selling between £3,400 and £4,700, depending upon condition. A Fiat 62-86 from a local farm with a Bambini rear mounted forklift sold well at £6,000. Other notable machinery prices were the Jungheimrich Electric Yard Forklift changing hands at £3,000 and a virtually new Badalini Sub Soiler at £2,000. The fruit bins, that had seen plenty of work, sold well despite limited demand. Amongst the smaller items, collectors spotted a saw bench from a local farm that was fitted with Mark I Spitfire tyres (shown below) which resulted in a bidding battle with the hammer falling at £600.

Farm dispersal auctions remain an excellent way of achieving great prices for a whole range of farm machinery, particularly when entries can be extended to local farmers to support the sale. The auction team are enthusiastic to get some more dates in the calendar.
